Hon Justice Elisabeth Peden was appointed as Judge of Supreme Court of NSW in 2022. She was admitted as a legal practitioner in 1994 and commenced practising as an academic barrister in 1999 and as a full-time barrister in 2007; Her Honour was appointed senior counsel in 2019. she had a general commercial practice at the bar, regularly appearing in the Federal and Supreme Courts around Australia. She also appeared in the High Court and various tribunals. Her practice areas were litigation, arbitration and advice including appellate, commercial/contract, corporate and banking, construction, equity, and property, including strata, succession/family provision, medical/professional negligence. Justice Peden has provided advice on drafting, planning and strategy and litigation to government bodies, including NSW government departments, the New Zealand government, large and small corporations, and individuals. For many years, she was a Professor at the University of Sydney. Her Honour has an international reputation in contract, commercial law, and evidence law.
