The government announced significant changes to superannuation which come into effect on 1 July 2017. Our practical, how-to Commercial Law Forum will explore the important points you have to know to get your superannuation planning right. The forum will cover:
• Transfer balance caps and total super balance
• Concessional contribution caps
• Non-concessional contribution caps
• The work test 
• Limiting the funds allowed in pension mode
• Loss of earnings exemption on transition to retirement pensions
• Anti-detriment payments 

We will provide guidance on the important actions you should take before 1 July to safeguard your super plus tips on planning options that exist both currently and prospectively.

John Walker
John Walker has worked in the financial services industry since 1984, all of which was spent as a financial adviser. He joined RetireInvest in 1988. John is a member of the Association of Financial Advisers, a Justice of the Peace and has a Diploma in Financial Planning from Deakin University. He also holds the internationally recognised Certified Financial Planner™ or CFP® qualification from the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA). These accreditations, together with his extensive experience, means that he is well qualified to help clients to achieve their financial goals.

Stephen Lamy
Stephen has had more than 25 years in financial services with an emphasis on superannuation. Stephen contracts to financial services providers. Stephen joined the CLA’s board of directors in August 2002. He became President of the CLA in 2006 and served in this capacity for five years. He currently serves as Treasurer.
